Community Action Association of Pennsylvania Unveils 2024 DEI Survey Report

Our 2024 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Survey is a crucial initiative by the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania (CAAP) to gauge the current landscape of DEI practices within our network. The survey aims to collect insights on how our CAAs are advancing DEI, identifying areas of success, and highlighting opportunities for growth. This helps us understand the effectiveness of our programs, inform future strategies, and ensure that we continue to foster inclusive and equitable environments for all.

How It Works

Community Action Agencies self-reported on their work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through a comprehensive survey examining internal and external DEI practices. Answers to each question in the DEI survey were converted into numeric points to create a percentage. The overall percentage score illustrates the depth to which DEI practices have been implemented within an organization.

DEI Implementation Scoring Groups:

  • Exemplary Organizations - score over 80% indicates DEI is embedded within the organization’s policies, procedures, and culture.

  • Progressing Organizations - score of 60 - 80% indicates the organization is aware of the importance of DEI and is actively working on implementation.

  • Emerging Organizations - score below 60% indicates DEI conversations may be occurring but have not been formalized.

Overview of Results

  • 9 organizations classified as Exemplary

  • 22 organizations classified as Progressing

  • 9 organizations classified as Emerging

  • 93% survey response rate

We surveyed an overall increase and improvement in DEI practices across CAAs when compared to data from 2022.
