Racial Equity Speaker Series

Racial Equity Speaker Series

Societies prosper when all students receive a great education. But in America, educational inequities persist, resulting in lost opportunities for students, their families and our communities. Black students continue to drop out of school at higher rates and enroll in college at lower rates than their white peers. A teacher corps that reflects its students helps close achievement and opportunity gaps. Having at least one Black teacher early on reduces a Black student’s likelihood of dropping out of school by up to 39%. When Black students have two Black elementary school teachers, they are 32% more likely to go to college. Join Sharif El-Mekki to discuss mindsets, methods, and policies that it takes to effectively rebuild the national #BlackTeacherPipeline through Career Technical Education and professional development.
